It is a common misconception amongst most aspirants and the general fol that once they have qualified for NEET exams and obtained their MBBS degree, their journey of becoming a Medical Practitioner ends. The truth is that NEET exams and obtaining an MBBS degree are the first stepping stone for those who want to become a Medical Practitioner or Healthcare Professional. Once an aspirant has completed their MBBS, BDS or any relevant degree, they need to choose their area of specialization. This is where most of the confusion begins. Essentially the term Medicine is very generalized and most people seem to underestimate the sheer depth of knowledge and study required to practice medicine. To elaborate, the study of medicine is widespread, that is, there are different PG degrees with different cut off marks and multiple difficulty levels. Hence, it becomes necessary for an aspirant to understand what their NEET PG eligibility is. To put it simply, NEET PG eligibility defines the credentials an aspirant must have to make it into the premiere Medical Institutions in India. For starters, NEET PG cut off would be their first stepping stone.
A candidate must possess the appropriate credentials or certifications which would make them eligible to appear for the NEET PG examination. The possession of the MBBS or BDS certification is a must. Only if this certificate, issued by the Medical Institution, is present with the candidate they will be eligible to appear for the NEET PG examination. One more aspect that is often-times neglected is the need for the Medical Institution to be recognized by the Medical Council of India.
Furthermore, multiple aspects come into the picture. Screening tests are held by Medical Institutes, to grade a candidate’s knowledge and if they should be offered a seat in the institution. This is followed by a temporary registration when they will be offered a registration certificate. This will help the aspirant keep a track of the status of their application and serve as a document of proof. Once an aspirant has cleared the examination. They will have the opportunity to choose between two fields of study. These are MD or Doctor of Medicine and MS or Master of Surgery. The former is for an aspirant who wants to practice as a Physician. The latter, MS, is for those aspirants who want to practice as Surgeon.
