Medicine and India have always been synonymous. From, the dawn of time, as early as 800 B.C.E., Indians or Indian civilizations have been known for their medicinal practices. Regarded as one of the few early civilizations, along with the Chinese, Greek and Middle Eastern Civilizations, India has long been known to have the sacred knowledge to cure diseases. Modern-day medical practices have definitely changed and, the way practitioners go about their business has evolved. A piece of trivia for the young medical aspirants out there; The curriculum of ancient medicine in India included the requirement of the knowledge of distillation, cooking, horticulture, metallurgy, sugar manufacturing, compounding of metals, etc. This tells you how much the ancient man had to know before they are certified at practising Upacharitavya (Medicine). The staggering similarity is what’s worth noticing. These skills helped the practitioners, in the primaeval times, to formulate medicines of their own and treat their patients.
In old scriptures such as the Ayurveda, Unani and Siddha Medicine, there are well-documented texts that thoroughly describe the act of performing surgeries, treating wounds and transplantations. These scriptures also included creating and formulating medicines that are, in the modern-day, termed Ayurvedic medicine. In a country that is almost always associated with diffidence and overall lack of technological advancements, one can only imagine the amount of rich heritage we possess, considering we are credited as one of the first civilizations to practice Medicine. It is needless to say, we have come a long way, especially in this regard. What India has accomplished in this sector is unparalleled, and quite fascinating. In recent history, Governmental reforms have changed the previous method of having a separate exam for every college to streamline it to a single All India examination now. It has allowed aspirants from all sectors of society to have equal opportunities in premiere Indian Colleges.
Medicine, as a discipline, has grown in more ways than one yet, the core essence remains the same. One aspect of primaeval medical education is, having a very disciplined lifestyle. A lifestyle that required the students to live away from their families, with their mentors. This enabled the students to understand their mentor’s lifestyle and hence be able to learn every aspect of their teachings. In history books, these places are known as ‘Gurukuls’ and, the teachers are called ‘Gurus’. This period or Ashrama was known as the ‘Brahmacharya Ashrama’. During this period the pupils were meant to learn and acquire knowledge from their “Gurus”. We, at Parishrama, share a similar ideology. We have a strong belief in this exact method of education. With our multiple teaching programs, we have infused the archaic lifestyles and modern methods of teaching to allow the aspirants to learn and undoubtedly crack the examinations with ease. In the larger scheme of things, we at Parishrama believe in helping every single aspirant to achieve their dream of being a Medical Practitioner. These archaic methods of teaching have proven to be effective and fruitful as it teaches academics and fosters a disciplined way of life in them, which is necessary for being a successful Healthcare Professional. At Parishrama we help inculcate these ideals and materialize your dreams.
